Actress, model, and as a child always longed to be a singer. Although Tia Carrere was eliminated during the first round of Star Search in 1985, but while at a Waikiki grocery store Tia Carrere was spotted and cast in the role of Lani in Aloha Summer.
Following this success, Tia Carrere relocated to Los Angeles and landed a role in General Hospital from 1985-87. During this time, Tia Carrere had a guest appearance on the A-Team and MacGyver. Tia Carrere also appeared in the film Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man.
In 1992, Tia Carrere emerged when cast as Cassandra, a rock singer and love interest in the Wayne's World films where Tia Carrere performed all of her own songs.
In 1992, Tia Carrere married producer Elie Samaha, and she has appeared in several of his films. Other roles in prominent films followed Tia Carrere's role in Wayne's World, including True Lies, The Immortals, and High School High.
From 1999-2002, Tia Carrere starred as archaeology professor Sydney Fox in Relic Hunter, an action-adventure "Indiana Jones" series. Most recently, Tia Carrere provided the voice of "Nani" in the film Lilo and Stitch and its spinoffs, and the voice of Queen Tyrani in the Duck Dodgers series.
People magazine, in 1992, named Tia Carrere to its "50 most beautiful people" list. A striking Asian beauty, Tia Carrere modelled for Playboy magazine January 2003 issue. Tia Carrere has continued her singing and in 1993 Tia Carrere's first solo album, Dream, went platinum in the Philippines. In 2003, Tia Carrere was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by Philippine president Gloria Arroyo.
Tia Carrere recently divorced and re-married to Simon Wakelin. Tia Carrere recently gave birth to a daughter, Bianca.
